BPharm (hons), DipHom, RCHom, RegPharmNZ

Barbara Roberts is a Homeopath and a Pharmacist, and lives and works in Kerikeri. In addition to her practice as a Homeopath, and working part time as a Pharmacist, Barbara is an online tutor for the College of Natural Health and Homeopathy, helping train future Homeopaths.

Barbara believes in empowering others, so they are better able to look after their own health. She has a blog on her website and Facebook, which covers a wide range of homeopathic topics. When discussing health conditions Barbara takes an integrative focus, looking at conventional treatment, herbs and supplements, other options, as well as homeopathy for a comprehensive look at health.

Barbara also has a passion for research, and in 2023 undertook the first New Zealand Homeopaths Workforce Demographics Survey, which is due to be published in 2024. She has been involved in proving new homeopathic remedies in conjunction with the Materia Medica Pura Project, and is hoping to start proving New Zealand remedies in the near future.

Contact me if you need support with your health, or physical, mental, emotional or spiritual well-being.

I am here to support you on your healing journey, however that looks for you as an individual.

Every person is an individual, and your lived experience will be different to others, even those who lived through the same experience as you. I love the opportunity to find out more about each person as an individual, and homeopathy is a tool to support you on your journey in healing and in life.

One of the reasons I am a Homeopath is because it is a modality that can get to the underlying factors of dis-ease, whether this is a trauma, loss, or mental emotional cause. I also always discuss the remedy and give you information which you can refer back to later, empowering you to take charge of your own health.

I enjoy working with a wide range of clients, of all ages and from all walks of life. I like working in an integrative environment, and liase with naturopaths and other health professionals. Some of the conditions that I have experience with include PANDAS and PANS, Epilepsy, Depression and Anxiety. I also enjoy working with busy and stressed people who are struggling with adrenal fatigue or HPA-axis dysfunction, and supporting people who are on medication, whether this is weaning off anti-depressants, or just managing health holistically as well as with
allopathic medication.

My story

I grew up with homeopathy - at 6 months old my Dad fell down the stairs carrying me, and I ended up with a large bruise on my head. Someone suggested Arnica to my Mum, and she described watching the swelling go down after giving it. She decided to learn more, and so I grew up using a range of different remedies for all kinds of complaints.

It was more a surprise that I went to Pharmacy school, but with a love of chemistry and biology at high school, it was a natural fit, and I enjoyed it more and more as I went through University. Once I qualified as a Pharmacist, I continued my search for knowledge of health, and completed a number of short courses for pharmacy assistants on vitamins, minerals, herbs, and then Naturopharm’s course on homeopathy. That short course wasn’t enough for me, so I enrolled in the Bay of Plenty College of Homeopathy’s Diploma.

Six years later, after moving city twice and having two children, I completed my four year diploma (with the College of Natural Health and Homeopathy), but I wasn’t ready to practice, instead returning to Pharmacy after a 2 year break. Later, 2 full years after completing my diploma, and after the birth of my third child, I started to practice as a Homeopath. This really ignited my love for homeopathy, and after a slow build, I ended up in full time practice as a Homeopath in 2022.

In 2023 I started as an online tutor with the College of Natural Health and Homeopathy, and completed my Certificate of Adult and Tertiary Teaching at the end of 2023. In 2024 I started working for Open Polytechnic as well, undertaking workplace assessments for training Pharmacy Technicians. Teaching and supporting learners of all levels is something that I think is really important, and sharing information is the best way to make a difference in this world, so people can make informed decisions for themselves.

These days, I am back to juggling two professions, study (because there is always more to learn), research, and teaching, along with family life and keeping connected with many different health professionals in different roles.
